Details of kidnapping of military battalion commander in Fakhir front revealed

DHALEA, June 29 (YPA) – A commander of a battalion affiliated with Saudi-led coalition in the Fakhir front of Dhalea Governorate, was abducted and his personal phone was confiscated amid demands to reveal his fate and the reasons behind his abduction.

Informed sources from Dhalea reported that Youssef Al-Bahr, the commander of the military battalion on the Fakhir front, who also serves as the head of the “Southern Revolutionary Movement” in the province, was kidnapped by factions loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council  (STC), last Tuesday, according to a statement issued by his family on Thursday.

The statement affirmed that the STC elements kidnapped Al-Bahr, confiscated his personal phone, and detained him in a prison affiliated with the factions in the city of Dhalea without any legal justification.

Al-Bahr’s family described the kidnapping incident in their statement as a blatant violation of human rights and international laws, holding the STC  factions in the province responsible for his safety.

The statement considered the kidnapping incident a direct threat to individuals’ freedom and personal security in the  province, demanding the STC to release Al-Bahr and hold those responsible for what they described as “oppressive and barbaric acts” accountable.

Al-Bahr’s family appealed to human rights organizations to intervene and put  pressure on the STC factions to respect human rights and uphold basic freedoms, urging the people of Dhalea to unite and reject the oppressive and barbaric methods that have caused great panic among Al-Bahr’s family members.
