39 Africans died, 150 missing off Shabwa coast in eastern Yemen

SANAA, June 11 (YPA) – An international organization announced on Tuesday that 39 African migrants were killed and 150 others were missing off the coast of Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) confirmed in a post on the “X” platform that a boat carrying 260 African migrants sank yesterday, Monday, off the coast of Shabwa, indicating that 39 migrants died as a result of the incident.

It was reported that the number of survivors of the drowning incident was 71 migrants and that 150 others were missing.

The international organization described the drowning of migrants as “a tragic accident,” noting that it was providing immediate assistance to the survivors of the accident.
