WORLD, May 18 (YPA) – Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, said that his country has suspended all arms export licenses to Israel since October 7th.
Albares explained that UN facilities, schools, and hospitals in the Gaza Strip are being bombed, calling on all parties to comply with the orders of the International Court of Justice.
He revealed that his country has called for an international peace conference based on the two-state solution.
Albares affirmed that Spain demands an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, noting that 27,000 Palestinians have been killed in the current war.
He stated that they do not want the violence in the region to expand, which obliges them to do what they can to prevent it.
Albares appreciated the role of the State of Qatar in mediating to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
He also clarified that Spain wants a viable Palestinian state that coexists with ‘Israel.’
The Spanish Foreign Minister pointed out that October 7th made them “realise” the importance of a “fair and lasting solution” to the Palestinian cause.
