CAIRO, Feb. 20 (YPA) – A Yemeni officer, residing in the Egyptian capital Cairo, died in mysterious circumstances on Tuesday.
Media sources said that Brigadier General Ali Hassan Al-Sharafi, who served in the Political Security Service of the coalition-backed Aden government, died, after being detained in a police station in Cairo, which opens the possibility of a planned assassination campaign, especially the targeted was one of senior Yemeni officers.
The sources added that Al-Sharafi had been settled in Cairo for a long time to receive treatment. He was arrested on charges of currency trafficking, and his prison term was extended.
The sources indicated that Sharif had previously been subjected to assassination attempts by Al-Qaeda.
The accident came in less than 48 hours after the assassination of Major General Hassan bin Jalal Al-Obeidi, the military industrialization official in the Aden government, in Cairo.
