About 3 US soldiers killed, 28 wounded in drone attack

AMMAN, Jan. 28 (YPA) – About 3 American soldiers were killed and 28 wounded on Sunday in a drone attack on a US military base in northeastern Jordan near the border with Syria, the US Central Command said in a statement.

The Pentagon described the attack as a “dangerous escalation.”

US President Joe Biden commented on the incident by saying that the attack, which resulted in the death of 3 soldiers, was carried out by Iranian-backed extremist groups operating in Syria and Iraq.

According to CNN, the officials added that this is the first time that American soldiers have been killed in attacks on American interests since the start of the war on Gaza.
