North Korean leader Kim calls for defining South Korea as enemy under Constitution

WORLD, Jan. 16 (YPA) – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has called for the country’s Constitution to be revised, so South Korea can be defined in it as the “No.1 hostile nation.”

This came during Kim’s speech to delegates at the Supreme People’s Assembly on Monday.

Kim said his country should not refer to South Korean people as “fellow countrymen” and the supreme law should call for intensified education to spread the idea that they are an enemy, the official Korean Central News Agency reported.

“In the event of a war on the Korean Peninsula, it is important to take into account the issue of full occupation, invasion, return of South Korea and subjugation of our territory,” Kim added.

The constitution must stipulate that education programs be strengthened to make North Koreans “strongly view South Korea as the number one enemy country and the main constant enemy,” Kim stressed.

In line with Kim’s new definition of inter-Korean relations, Pyongyang decided to dissolve three agencies responsible for promoting inter-Korean dialogue and cooperation.

“We must take comprehensive step-by-step measures to completely cut off inter-Korean communication in the border areas, including the need to physically cut off the northern side of the Gyeongwe land road, to irreparable levels,” Kim added.
