BERLIN, Jan. 10 (YPA) – Hapag-Lloyd AG, a German international shipping and container transportation company, confirmed on Tuesday that it would continue to suspend its services in the Red Sea that maritime navigation in is still dangerous.
Spokesman of the fifth largest container ship company in the world said: “We consider that the situation is still serious; “We are re-evaluating the matter on a daily basis.”
The company said in a statement on its website: “In accordance with Clause 18 of our bill of lading, related to matters affecting performance, we had to make the decision to avoid the Suez Canal and the Red Sea with immediate effect.”
For nearly a month, the German company has suspended its services from the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Suez Canal, to escape any attacks that its ships linked to Israel entity may be exposed to, as well as an attack by Yemeni forces in the south of the Red Sea.
In solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to an massacres by the American-backed Israeli occupation since October 7, the Yemeni Navy targeted cargo ships in the Red Sea belonging to the Zionist entity with missiles and drones.
About 10% of the Israeli occupation’s imports’ trade passes through the Red Sea Mediterranean and 98% of its foreign, as well as 34.6% to Israel’s economy, according to the Occupation Ministry of Finance
