Tribal gunmen stop work in Safer oil facility

MARIB, Sept. 28 (YPA) – Tribal gunmen prevented oil and gas tankers from passing towards the Safer oil facility, which is under the control of coalition factions in the east of Marib city, for the straight fifth day.

Local sources said al-Damashaqa tribes in Wadi Abaida blocked the Safer road in front of the tankers and prevented them from entering and leaving the facility, which stopped filling the tankers.

The sources added the escalation came due to previous demands that Safer Company had not been complied with.

Hundreds of tankers lined up on both sides of Safer Road may indicate a severe domestic gas crisis in the city of Aden and the rest of the southern provinces, they added.

This came after an attack on the Safer facility with a number of mortar shells in mid-September, which led to the burning of the gas pipeline complex near Asaad Al-Kamil oil field in the Safer facility.
