Coalition-run parliament rejects deal selling Yemen’s telecommunications to UAE

ADEN, Sept. 01 (YPA) – Members of representatives loyal to the coalition in Aden city, south of Yemen, refused on Sunday to participate in a consultative meeting headed by Sultan Al-Barakani, to discuss the deal to sell telecommunications to the UAE.

In a statement issued by the office of the members with the Socialist and Nasserite Party declared their rejection to participate in the meeting, considering the boycott of the meeting dedicated to discussing the Aden Telecom sale deal, “unconstitutional.”

The statement added that the meeting was not held to take a decision on the sale of communications, but rather a call was to discuss several proposals made by the head of Saudi-formed Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, to freeze the deal file until Al-Alimi’s return from New York.

The political activist loyal to the Islah Party, Anis Mansour, warned of the repercussions of the failure of the session of the pro-coalition Al-Barakani’s parliament dedicated to discussing the communications deal between coalition-backed government and the UAE.
