IED blast targets UAE-backed forces in Taiz

TAIZ, July 30 (YPA) -An improvised explosive device (IED) struck a military vehicle belonging to UAE-backed factions Tuesday in eastern Al-Turbah, the center of Ash-Shamayatayn district under Islah Party control in Taiz governorate.

A local source confirmed the blast destroyed a vehicle operated by a Tariq Saleh faction commander near Hisbira’s Al-Sukoon Park, injuring multiple personnel.

Medical sources at Khalifa Hospital confirmed receiving multiple casualties, including a victim who suffered traumatic amputation of one hand from explosion shrapnel

The vehicle owner’s identity remains unknown.

Separately, local media reported that another explosion hit a military vehicle in the city of Mocha.

The blast follows three similar IED attacks in Al-Turbah this July, including explosions along Line 24 and Al-Qahfa Road, as well as a third bombing in the Bala’fa area.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, amid allegations of security complicity.

It’s worth mentioning that areas controlled by Tariq Saleh’s forces and the Islah Party have seen escalating security tensions in recent months, including the disruption of an Emirati-funded water project intended to supply Taiz city.
