Top commander gets subjected to assassination attempt in Mahra

MAHRA, July. 11 (YPA) – A senior commander of the “135th Brigade” affiliated with the Islah party was injured on Tuesday after being got subjected on Tuesday to assassination attempt in Mahra, the easternmost province in Yemen.

The commander, Yahya Abu Awja, was ambushed in Aqabat Tanhala in Al-Ghaydah city of Mahra province, while returning to the city of Seiyun of Hadramout, according to local sources.

The sources indicated that Abu Awja’s injury was critical as a result of the overturning of the car, during which he was transferred to a Al-Ghaydah hospital, indicating that Abu and he was likely to be transferred to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, for treatment.

The sources affirmed that the fingers were pointed to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council of attempting to assassinate Abu Awja.
