US drone strike hits Shabwa governorate

SHABWA, June 22 (YPA) – A US drone has launched an airstrike on Shabwa province, southeast Yemen, which is under the control of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC’s factions.

Media sources reported on Thursday that the drone targeted an element of (al-Qaeda) near the area of Al-Kor in the district of  Al-Sa’eed.

The raid came after al-Qaeda leader Abu Mohammed al-Shalouni al-Awlaki was killed in an airstrike in al-Musaina’a in the same district.
