SANAA, June 08 (YPA) -The Public Prosecutor in Sanaa, Judge Mohammed al-Dailami, provided on Thursday important clarifications regarding compensation for the victims of the “Al-Sultana Palace,” group.
“The existing funds, in addition to some lands, will be processed through the Public Funds Court, so that this amount is proven as a tackle for citizens, and their right is returned to them at the existing available rates”, Al-Dailami said in a press statement.
He pointed out that Al-Sultana Group, which deceived citizens, was not subject to the supervision of the Ministry of Industry in Sanaa, calling on the Ministry to follow up on all new companies to avoid frauds occurring to citizens.
The Public Funds Court in Sanaa had issued its final ruling convicting the first main defendant, Belqis Al-Haddad, and 82 others in the case of “Al-Sultana Palace, which targeted 110,000 people during January 2016 – July 15, 2020, in the crime of defrauding on sums of money estimated at 66 billion and 314 million and 405 thousand riyals.
The ruling decided to convict the first accused, Belqis Ali Ghaleb Al-Haddad, and Essa Ahmed Saeed Thabet Al-Salwi, of the charges attributed to them in the indictment, and they received a ten year prison sentence, while obligating them to hand over the amount of 27 billion and 729 million riyals.
According to the ruling, the sums that will be handed over to the targeted citizens were collected from December 2019, to July 15, 2020.
