UN plane lands at Hodeida International Airport

HODEIDA, June 07 (YPA) – A UN helicopter landed at Hodeida International Airport, coming from Djibouti for the first time, 8 years after the airport stopped operating as a result of the aggression against Yemen.
Director General of Hodeida Airport, Ahmed Taresh, and his Deputy for Technical Affairs, Engineer Mohieddin Al-Dimashqi, explained that a helicopter coming from Djibouti landed at Hodeida airport, and then left towards the site of the Safer Oil Tanker in the port of Ras Issa as part of its flight route.

They two officials stressed the importance of the United Nations and the Hodeida Agreement Support Team playing a positive role during this stage to support the rehabilitation and maintenance of the damage suffered by the airport as a result of bombing by the coalition warplanes to ensure its return to service to alleviate the suffering of patients and passengers.

During the landing of the plane in the presence of a number of governorate agents and security and military officials, a team from the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) confirmed that the plane will work within the framework of the tasks and logistical arrangements of the team of experts and maintenance to secure and rescue the Safer oil tanker.

It should be noted that Hodeida International Airport was almost completely destroyed by the coalition as part of its war and siege on the Yemeni people.
