WORLD, June 03 (YPA) – An earthquake measuring 5.5 magnitude on the Richter scale struck southern Peru, The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center said in a statement on Saturday.
The epicenter of the quake occurred 11 kilometers northwest of the city of Huararancante, which has a population of about 4,600, the statement said.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 2 km, the statement said.
So far, no casualties or material damage have been reported.
