Tribes move to close oil, gas fields in Marib

MARIB, May 23 (YPA) – One of Obeida’s tribes in Marib province, which is under the control of Saudi-led coalition, threatened on Tuesday to close all oil, gas and electrical facilities in the coming days.

Tribal sources in the province said that members of the tribes of Al-Qazaa in Al-Damashqa in Wadi Obeida unanimously agreed to stop the looting of oil and gas resources and their revenues by the authorities affiliated with the coalition.”

Sources confirmed that the tribes of Al-Qazaa flocked to the Muttrah area in front of the Raidan oil fields to reduce the looting of crude oil and tampering with huge resources without benefiting from them in local development.

They pointed out that the sheikhs and notables of the Qazaa family, loyal to “Tariq Afash”, called on the rest of the Obeida tribes to join their sit-in, which seeks to recover the looted resources without benefiting from them during the past years.

According to the sources, the tribesmen accused the pro-coalition authorities of looting wealth to implement projects outside the province and Yemen.

The tribes demanded that the  young Marib people to be involved in the administration of their governorate and the use of resources in development, warning local authorities  of not to responding  to their demands.

They threatened to stop all oil and gas facilities and work to completely shut down the electricity generators and the three lines, in case their demands are not met.
