SIRYA, Feb. 07 (YPA) – The residents of Aleppo, Latakia, and Homs governorates in the northern part of Syria felt an aftershock on Tuesday evening, the Syrian News Agency, SANA, said.
Rescue operations are continuing in Syria and Turkey, amid the high number of victims and fears of aftershocks from the devastating earthquake that struck several areas in the two countries.
A 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit Kahramanmaraş province in Turkey at dawn on Monday, destroying a number of cities and leaving hundreds dead or injured. The aftershocks of the earthquake also reached the cities of northern Syria and Iraq, and the earthquake was felt by the residents of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
The earthquake’s strongest aftershocks were in the cities of northern Syria, where hundreds of people were killed, thousands wounded, and thousands of buildings destroyed.
