WORLD, Jan. 17 (YPA) – At least 20 people have been killed as a result of consecutive rainstorms that pounded California in succession since December 26, Governor Gavin Newsom said.
He added, in an executive order that reinforced the state’s response to storm damage, that tens of thousands remained under evacuation orders as of Monday.
While there are still more than two months in the rainy season, officials are urging Californians to continue to maintain water reserves, as the US drought monitor still puts nearly the entire state in moderate or severe drought conditions.
