Pro-UAE leader thwarts decision issued by Hadramout tribes

HADRMOUT, Jan. 10 (YPA) – Hadramout governor, Mabkhout bin Madi, loyal to the UAE, thwarted on Tuesday a draft decision issued by the tribes of Wadi Hadramout.

Tribal sources reported that the UAE pushed the governor to the city of Seiyun, after announcing the so-called “Hadramout tribes reference,” the last Saturday, to recruit 10,000 of its sons to defend the oil Wadi districts and confront the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia.

The sources affirmed that bin Madi directed, during his meeting with leaders of the Saudi forces in Seiyun, and some leaders in the “first military region”, not to create and recruit any a new force in the districts of Hadramout.

The sources considered that Bin Madi’s directives to prevent the recruitment of tribesmen, in an attempt to pave the way for the STC militia to control of the province.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia sent military leaders to Seiyun airport, in support of the positions of its tribes, after announcing a confrontation with the UAE militia in the Wadi Hadramout, amid the efforts of the UAE-backed governor to rein in the tribes loyal to Saudi Arabia.

The decision of the “reference of the Hadramout tribes” came after the return of the pro-Saudi tribal leader, Sheikh Amr bin Habrish, close to Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, at the end of last week, who has a number of sectors and oil fields under the control of the tribes loyal to him.

On Monday, an Emirati plane arrived at Al-Rayyan airport in Mukalla carrying a shipment of weapons for the STC militia, reflecting the Emirati intentions to detonate the situation in the districts of Al-Wadi.

The UAE is seeking, through the STC, to remove the militants of the “First Military Zone” affiliated with the Islah party from the districts of Wadi Hadramout, after its control of oil Shabwa, and the appointment of Awad al-Wazir al-Awlaki as governor, and the expulsion of the Islah militants in early August.
