SANAA, Dec. 29 (YPA) – Head of the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee in Sanaa, Abdul Qadir al-Mortada, held on Thursday the Saudi regime responsible for the stalemate that has entered into the largest prisoner exchange deal since the beginning of the war.
He said in a news statement the Saudi regime is putting sticks in the wheels of the grand bargain through its tools in Marib by putting forward new conditions and names, as it controls all the files of the coalition forces, including the prisoners’ file.
“We hoped, by the end of the year 2022, to close the prisoners’ file and finish the suffering of their families with all parties,” he said.
Al-Mortada went on to say: “We are in contact with the Saudi side, and we assure them that their prisoners will not be released except with a comprehensive deal.”
He pointed out that the Saudi regime had delayed the implementation of local prisoner exchange deals, describing the year 2022 as the least accomplished among the past years.
“The United Nations is concerned with exerting more pressure on the Saudi side and its tools to implement the prisoner exchange deal, which includes 2,220 prisoners from both sides,” al-Mortada.
