Oil Minister: Demanding payment of salaries from Yemeni oil revenues is legitimate right
SANAA, Oct. 13 (YPA) – Minister of Oil and Minerals Ahmed Abdullah Daris said on Thursday that “demanding the payment of salaries from Yemeni oil revenues is a legitimate right and a humanitarian entitlement, not a maneuver or crippling.”
The oil minister considered, in a press statement, that cutting salaries and closing the port of Hodeida and Sanaa International Airport a crime against humanity and a flagrant violation of all international covenants and laws.
Daris pointed out that “the aggression countries (Saudi-led coalition) are looting Yemeni oil and gas and selling it without shame, depriving the Yemeni citizen of his most basic rights in light of international complicity and silence.”
“The aggression countries deliberately cut the salaries of civil and military employees to bring the Yemeni people to their knees,” he added.
He noted that the coalition countries control the resources of vital sectors that generate billions of riyals per month, which are sufficient to pay the salaries of employees.
“The aggression countries control oil and gas and plunder their revenues, yet they evade the humanitarian entitlement to pay salaries and to open the port of Hodeida and Sanaa airport,” Daris explained.
The oil minister confirmed that if the National Salvation Government is handed over oil and gas revenues and is enabled to supervise the oil sectors and companies, it is ready to pay the salaries of employees in all provinces without exception.
