TAIZ, Sept. 27 (YPA) – A senior official loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in Taiz city welcomed on Tuesday imposition of control over the camps of the Islah party in the province by UAE-funded Tariq Afash forces.
“We value the coordination and cooperation given by the leadership of the West Coast Forces, with the leadership of the Taiz axis in various tasks,” said the “Taiz deputy for the so-called “Defense and Security”, Abdul Karim Al-Sabri.
Al-Sabri hinted at handing over the camps of the leadership of Islah’s “Taiz Axis” would serve the “public interest,” referring to the uprooting of the party’s militants from southern Taiz.
Observers believe that the handover of the Islah camps in Taiz came amid Emirati threats to designate its militants as terrorist groups, after the explosion that targeted a transport bus with an explosive device yesterday in the city of Al-Turbah, left one dead and 11 wounded.
At the beginning of this week, “Tariq Afash” forces established military barracks and sites on the outskirts of the districts of Mawza’ and Al-Wazeiya, after returning the hard-line Salafist leader Abu al-Abbas’ brigades to the city center.
