Senior Sanaa official calls on residents of Taiz, southern provinces not to send their sons to battlefronts
SANAA, Oct. 04 (YPA) – Member of the Supreme Political Council in Sanaa Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtour, on Saturday called on residents of Yemen’s southern and eastern provinces, including Taiz.
In a press statement, he called on tribal leaders in areas under the control of the Saudi-backed Aden government not to allow their sons to be sent to the battlefronts or used as fuel for advancing Saudi objectives, which would bring further destruction and devastation to Yemen and its people.
Bin Habtoor urged residents to recognize that the stated objective of Yemeni armed forces operations is to confront military buildups linked to the escalation, rather than target the people or communities of those provinces.
“Our Yemeni armed forces continue to carry out their duties as part of their declared objective of lifting the blockade and confronting the escalation, and are proceeding with the equation they announced: blockade for blockade, escalation for escalation, and confronting military buildups linked to this escalation,” Bin Habtour said.
He condemned Saudi attacks on the Yemeni people and the casualties and suffering they have caused, stating that Saudi airstrikes had exceeded 1,200, targeting civilians and Yemen’s resources and infrastructure.
“The escalation has not stopped there. The blockade has continued, along with the suffering it causes, affecting Yemenis’ livelihoods, food, medicine and health, in addition to intelligence activities and attempts to recruit spies and agents and undermine the internal front,” the Yemeni official added.
