ADEN, Jun. 12 (YPA) – Armed clashes erupted on Sunday between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias in the streets of Sheikh Othman district in the center of the port city of Aden, southern Yemen.
The militia members exchanged fire with medium and light weapons in the streets, against the backdrop of the dispute over the collection of royalties within the area markets and their practice of extortion against sellers and merchants, according to local sources.
The sources confirmed gunmen of the “STC” militia opened fire on other elements of the so-called “security belt”, which led to the outbreak of a clash between the two parties in the middle of the streets of the area, which left a state of panic among passers-by and the citizens.
