SHABWAH, Jun.01 (YPA) -Seven recruits from the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias were killed or wounded by an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in the second incident in mere hours, in Yemen’s Shabwah province.
Local sources reported that an explosive device exploded and targeted a military pickup vehicle carrying the former commander of the so-called Shabwah Defence Forces (formerly known as the Shabwah Elite), Majid Lamrouk, in the district of Mayfa’a.
According to the sources, the commander survived, but two of his companions were killed and five others injured in the attack.
The incident was the second of its kind in six hours targeting the Emirati-funded “Shabwah Defence Forces, after an earlier attack in which three people were killed and four wounded near Al-Awael School in Ataq city center.
The sources pointed out that Islah militants were accused of carrying these bombing attacks against the STC’s leaders in Shabwah, in retaliation against the loss of power by members of the Muslim Brotherhood affiliated organisation at the hands of STC separatists.
