UAE participates in anti-event Yemeni unity in Socotra

SOCOTRA, May 21 (YPA) – “Emirati Khalifa” Foundation participated on Saturday in event organized by the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council(STC) militias boycott activities belonging the Yemeni unity day in Socotra archipelago.

Local sources affirmed that “Khalifa Foundation, the UAE intelligence arm, allocated dozens of cars and buses to transport the STC’s supporters, who are opposing to the Yemeni unity from their headquarters to the gathering places in the city of Hadibo, the capital of the island.

The STC’s mobilization and escalation came despite the participation of the head of the council, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, in the Saudi-formed presidential leadership council” in reviving the so-called “separation” from the unit that was announced in the summer war of 1994.

The UAE has strengthened its control over the Socotra archipelago by bringing in militias from Dhalea and Yafa tribes during the past years to expel the local authorities of the resigned president of “Hadi” in June 2020.
