Pro-Islah activist killed in Shabwah

SHABWAH, March 21 (YPA) – A pro-Islah activist was assassinated by unknown gunmen on Monday  in the oil-rich province of Shabwah.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on the testimonies of local sources.

According to the sources, unidentified gunmen opened fire at Shukri Mohammed Yaacoub  while he was passing through al-Mshahra area, Rudum district, killing him instantly.

The assassination comes as part of the liquidations  between Islah and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) following the dismissal of Governor Mohammed Saleh bin Adio and the appointment of Awad al-Awlaki, who is affiliated with the UAE.
