Yemen LNG facilities in Shabwah lit up for first time since beginning of Saudi-led aggression

SHBAWH, March 16 (YPA) -Yemeni liquefied natural gas facilities in Shabwah have on Tuesday lit up again for the first time since the start of the Saudi-led aggression on the country in 2015, marking the resumption of LNG production for export to Europe.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on the testimonies of local sources.

According to local sources in Shabwah, US and French teams are currently conducting rapid maintenance of the most important facility, which produces millions of tons of liquefied gas per day, in order to re- operate and start exporting gas.

The facility is one of Yemen’s energy sectors, which also includes oil, and has been in the process of restarting since the arrival of a US Envoy a few days ago. The envoy held discussion with provincial authorities for the resumption of the facilities, which had been suspended for years.

The development comes in parallel with attempts of United States to gather all Yemeni parties in order to reach an interim agreement to stop the war. This marks a significant change from prior US unlimited support to the Saudi invasion.

This indicates that Washington and the West, which have been supporting the war on Yemen for years, are now trying to take advantage of the status quo in order to strengthen their position in their ongoing conflict with Russia.
