ABYAN, March 16 (YPA) – Abdel-Latif al-Sayed, commander of the so-called Security Belt forces in the province of Abyan, Southern Yemen, has accused Islah party, Yemeni branch of Muslim brotherhood, of carrying out the booby-trapped attack on his convoy in Zinjibar city on Tuesday.
“We will pursue these terrorist scums until we reach their main den in Marib, God willing,” said Abdel-Latif al-Sayed in his first statement after being slightly injured during a suicide car bombing attack on his convoy on the Zinjibar- Jaar highway.
“We will take the terrorists out of their roots in the near future.”
Earlier on Tuesday, at least 12 militants of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) were killed and 14 others were injured as a result of the car bombing attack.
The attack coincides with the escalation of the bloody conflict between Saudi-led coalition factions in Abyan, as the STC seeks to expand its control over the province in order to end the latest representation of Hadi’s forces and Islah militants.
