Khashoggi fiancee calls on Turkey to achieve justice

SANAA, Feb. 28 (YPA) – Murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s fiancee has called on Turkey to achieve justice and not to give in to the will to get close to Riyadh in holding accountable those accused of his assassination at his country’s consulate in Istanbul.

“Turkey must continue its determination to achieve justice even if Turkish-Saudi relations are improving,” Said Khadija Genghis in an interview with AFP this week, after a hearing in an Istanbul court that the defendants missed.

However, Ankara began to soften relations with Saudi Arabia several months ago, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced in early January an upcoming visit to Riyadh, which has not yet been scheduled.

“In order for such a thing to not happen again, in order for this matter to at least reach the best possible level in moral and legal terms, (Turkey) should not abandon this case,” she added.
