SANAA, Dec. 18 (YPA) – A woman has accused two former members of a Virginia police department of sexually assaulting her as part of a deal to protect the leader of a human trafficking ring, according to a lawsuit filed on Thursday night.
The woman, referred to only by name Jane Doe because she is a victim of human trafficking, says the Fairfax County Police Station in Virginia, including its former boss Edwin Rossler, knew that some officers might have been participating in the network and protecting it, but allowed officers to retire on full pay rather than prosecute them.
A spokesman for the Fairfax County Police Station in the Washington, D.C., area said the center is managing other matters and has no comment now on the case.
The suit accuses two former officers of having sex with victims of trafficking, including the resident of the case. Two other former officers, Rossler and the district are also accused of obstructing investigations into sex trafficking.
Reuters was unable to contact the two officers accused of sexual assault, while those accused of intercepting the investigation did not respond to a request for comment sent through their LinkedIn accounts.
According to the lawsuit, the FBI was aware of the crimes the officers could have committed after FBI agents found their numbers on the suit’s resident’s mobile phone and referred the matter to Fairfax police.
