Yemen calls on UN to embody true concept of humanitarian action

SANAA, Nov. 03 (YPA) – Acting Minister of Human Rights, Ali Al-Dailami, on Tuesday called on the United Nations to embody the true concept of humanitarian action in Yemen.

This came during his meeting with the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs OCHA in Yemen, David Grisley, to discuss the human suffering of the Yemeni people in light of the continued aggression and siege imposed by the Saudi-led coalition.

In the meeting, Al-Dailami referred to the suffering inflicted on civilians as a result of the continuous siege on land, sea and air outlets, adding that, “Violations of aggression are monitored by United Nations bodies and agencies, but they are ignored, which led to major failures on the humanitarian side.”

Al-Dailami reviewed the activities and programs would being implemented by the UN within the framework of restoring basic services in the areas of health, food security and education, and the required assessment of infrastructure needs.

For his part, Grisley affirmed that his program would work to enhance the partnership opportunities for carrying out the humanitarian work and alleviating the suffering.
