Egyptian military expert comments on Sudanese army movements

SANAA, Oct. 25 (YPA) – Major General Samir Ragheb, an Egyptian military expert, commented, in an interview with RT, that the Sudanese army placed Prime Minister Abdulla Hamdok under house arrest, and arrested other ministers.

The Egyptian expert said that the attempt by the US envoy for the Horn of Africa, Jeffrey Feltman, to rapprochement between the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and Prime Minister Abdulla Hamdok was the last chance to get out of the conflict between the military and civilian components.

He pointed out that the news spoke of the arrest of dozens of Sudanese officials, or perhaps the number could reach hundreds, describing the military force as joint, which means that it represents the organs of the military component, Burhan-Hemedti, and not a coup from a third party.

The Egyptian expert expected that the Sudanese army would be redeployed, security barriers would be deployed, bridges and traffic axes would be closed, and perhaps decisions would be issued to ban roaming, and cut off the Internet, pointing out that any major popular movement in response to the call of the gathering of civilians threatens to return matters to square one and a major clash.

The Egyptian military expert said the early morning hours remain crucial in the Sudanese scene, but there is no doubt that Monday will be different from Sunday in the development of the democratic transition stages in Sudan.
