Sanaa forces launch fresh strikes on Saudi-backed military positions in Yemen’s Mocha
SANAA, Aug. 10 (YPA) – A military source affiliated with Sanaa forces said new ballistic missile and drone strikes targeted Saudi-backed military positions, weapons depots, and command centers in Yemen’s western coastal district of Mocha late Sunday.
The source said the strikes hit military camps and supply facilities, causing powerful explosions across the area. He added that the operation followed previous attacks in Marib and Hadramout, which he said reflected Sanaa’s ability to track military movements and target key locations.
Earlier in the day, Sanaa forces said they carried out a large-scale military operation using ballistic missiles and drones against Saudi military mobilizations and weapons depots in Mocha city, southwest of Taiz province.
In a statement, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Sarie, said the strike came in response to continued Saudi troop build-ups, arms reinforcements, and attacks along Yemen’s western coast and Taiz Governorate.
He confirmed that the operation caused widespread destruction of military equipment and weapons, killed and wounded dozens, including Saudi personnel.

Saudi-backed military supply lines near the Port of Mocha sustained heavy damage late Sunday following a series of missile and drone strikes launched by Sanaa forces, field sources reported. The strikes triggered consecutive secondary explosions as fires ripped through targeted ammunition depots along Yemen’s western coast.
According to military spokesmen in Sanaa, the operation is part of a broader tactical shift toward “preemptive warfare,” aimed at neutralizing command, logistics, and assembly hubs before opposing troops can deploy to active battlefields. Sanaa military intelligence claimed the targeted reinforcements were part of an imminent, large-scale ground offensive planned for the western coast.
The Mocha strike follows a sequence of synchronized long-range strikes targeting military camps across Marib and Hadramout—including Al-Ruwaik, Al-Abr, and Sahn Al-Jinn. Sanaa leadership warned that any ongoing military buildups would remain active targets under its standing policy of “blockade for blockade, and escalation for escalation.”
