Ghannouchi transferred to hospital due to health problems

SANAA, Aug. 01 (YPA) – Parliament Speaker Rached Ghannouchi, head of the moderate Islamist Ennahda was taken to hospital after  he suffered  a medical condition, Tunisian media reported Saturday evening.

Rashid Ghannouchi’s office revealed Ghannouchi’s health, confirming that he had already been taken to hospital on Saturday evening.

“Ghannouchi suffered a mild illness on the evening of Saturday, July 31, 2021, after which he was transferred to the sanatorium,” the office said in a media release posted on Rashid Ghannouchi’s official Facebook page.

Ghannouchi “left after the necessary tests and treatment,” the office said.

According to Reuters, Ghannouchi postponed the meeting of the Shura Council, Ennahda’s highest authority, indefinitely amid sharp divisions and demands for Ghannouchi’s resignation.

According to the agency, three party sources said that “he postponed on Saturday a meeting of the Shura Council just an hour before it is scheduled to take place.”
