ADEN, Jul. 19 (YPA) – An oil tanker has drowned in the gulf of Aden, southern Yemen, Yemen news Portal reported, citing local sources.
According to the sources, the ship Diya, which belongs to Ahmad al-Essi, deputy director of Hadi’s office, sank with fuel on board off the coast of Al-Buraiqa district, west of Aden.
The quantities of fuel on board the ship had leaked into the sea and pollution had reached the Haswa Nature Reserve, which had been taken by the UAE-bcaked southern transitional Council (STC) militias
An environmental expert warned of the danger of polluting seawater with oil leaking from the sunken tanker on the lives of marine organisms, especially after the appearance of quantities of oil on the coast of Aden, calling for speedy movement.
He stressed the need for urgent measures, including trapping the floating quantity on the sea surface in an oil booms way to pre-empt its suction.
Since the intervention of Saudi Arabia and its coalition in Yemen, Yemen’s coast has been subjected to extensive contamination with chemicals and biological substances dumped by coalition’s ships into Yemeni waters, causing large quantities of fish and other marine organisms to die and float on the sea.
