Ship that was stuck in Suez Canal prepares to leave Egypt

SANAA, Jul. 7 (YPA) – The head of the Ismailia Economic Court, Omar El-Qadi, officially approved the request submitted by the Suez Canal Authority, to lift the precautionary seizure of the Panamanian container ship EVER GIVEN.

According to the decision, the ship will be able to leave the Suez Canal and continue its voyage to the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands today.

The lawyer of the Suez Canal Authority, “submitted a request to Counselor Omar El-Qadi, head of the Ismailia Economic Court, to lift the seizure, in order to issue a decision to lift the stone on the ship, which was approved by the head of the court, and it is scheduled to go to the place of seizure of the ship in the Bitter Lakes region near the port.” Fayed city, and boarding the ship, accompanied by the legal department of the Suez Canal Authority, to lift the seizure on the ship and notify the ship’s captain and the crew on board, so that they can complete their trip on Wednesday.

The Suez Canal Authority has completed the procedures for leaving the Panamanian ship “Evergifen”, which is being held in the Bitter Lakes region in the navigational course of the canal, near the city of Fayed in Ismailia, in preparation for the resumption of its cruise to the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

It is scheduled to leave the Panamanian ship, on Wednesday, accompanied by two tugs, and is guided by two senior guides, during its journey in the navigational course of the Suez Canal.

The Panamanian container ship, one of the largest container ships in the world, had been stranded for 6 days in the Suez Canal, starting on March 23, which obstructed navigation through the vital shipping lane for global trade. Its total tonnage is 224 thousand tons, and the Suez Canal initially demanded compensation of more than 900 million dollars before reducing it to about 550 million.
