Two senior al-Qaeda leaders killed in missile strike in Badya

BAYDA, Jul. 07 (YPA) – Two senior al-Qaeda leaders were killed on Tuesday by a rocket attack targeting a meeting of al-Qaeda leaders at its stronghold in Bayda province, central Yemen.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on local sources.

Local sources confirmed that “Saad Atef” chairman of the Shura Council of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, and another leader called “Khattab al-Sanani”  were killed in the missile strikes that hit their meeting in the directorate of al-Sawma’ah .

Al-Qaeda leader Saad al-Awlaki is wanted by US authorities and has offered 6 million dollars for information about him.

No group has claimed responsibility for the missile bombing, which targeted the meeting of the terrorist organization’s leaders in al- Sawma’ah  district.

The al-Sawma’ah district, Yemen’s main stronghold, has been the scene of violent clashes between al-Qaeda members and Yemeni army forces since the beginning of the month.
