ISIS’s reinforcements attacked, routed in central Yemen

ADEN, Jul.07 (YPA) – A number of Daesh (ISIS) members were killed and wounded on Wednesday, when their convoy was exposed to an unknown ambush targeting reinforcements of the group on the way from Aden to the al-Sawma’ah district in Bayda governorate, central Yemen.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on local sources.

According to local sources in Aden, the so-called “Emir of Aden” Farouk al-Adani ordered a military campaign of 18 military pickup vehicles and 5 cars in order to reinforce the positions of Daesh in the al-Sawma’ah district, for fear of an imminent attack by the Armed Forces of the National Salvation Government of Yemen.

However, the reinforcements that came out with the permission of the commander of Saudi forces were subjected to three unknown ambushes in the areas of Al-Alam and Shuqra, targeting them with explosive devices, resulting in the killing and wounding of 12 terrorists, and forcing the rest to return to Aden.

It is not yet known who is behind the ambushes, but their timing indicates that they may be part of an ongoing conflict between al-Qaeda and ISIS, which has evolved over the past months into battles between the two sides in Bayda and mutual attacks with booby traps and suicide bombers.
