Emirati citizen claims purchase of land in Yemeni ‘Mayoun’ island exceeds island’s area

ABU DHABI, Jun. 04 (YPA) – Informed sources have revealed the innovative Emirati methods of occupying the Yemeni Mayoun island overlooking the Bab al-Mandab Strait in the south of the Red Sea.

The sources stated that a citizen of the UAE claimed that he had bought lands a few months ago on the Yemeni island, which overlooks the second most important sea strait in the world.

The sources indicated that the alleged documents, which were in the possession of the Emirati citizen, claim that he purchased a piece of land on the Mayoun island that its area exceeds the actual area of the island.

This confirms that there are failed operations carried out by the UAE with the aim of imposing control over the Yemeni island.

The UAE established a military base on Mayoun Island after displacing the island’s population amounting more than 400 people to the cities of Djibouti, whlle some of them were transferred to tents in desert areas in Al-Sabiha area, west of Yemeni Lahj province, at the end of 2016.

Recently, aerial images via satellite revealed that the UAE established a runway for warplanes, in addition to military buildings on the island, amid the presence of the Israeli Navy in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which represents the greatest threat to the international maritime navigation.
