12 Passengers, including women, killed or injured in armed bandit attack on Al-Abr–Marib highway

MARIB-HADRAMOUT, Sept. 28 (YPA) – Twelve civilians were killed or injured late Sunday night when armed bandits opened fire on two passenger buses near the “Al-Nasser Complex” along the international highway connecting Al-Abr and Marib city, areas controlled by Saudi-backed armed factions.

According to local and media sources, armed gangs heavily targeted a passenger bus heading toward Marib city with automatic rifles, killing five passengers and critically injuring two others.

Simultaneously, the attackers targeted a second bus carrying families traveling in the opposite direction toward Al-Abr, leaving five women with varying degrees of injuries and causing panic among women and children aboard.

The incident comes amidst a deteriorating security situation in Yemen’s eastern and southern provinces controlled by Saudi Arabia and its affiliated forces, where vital transit routes have turned into sites for killings, robberies, and highway ambushes amid a complete absence of travel security.
