Trump expects new round of talks with Iran this week

WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump confirmed to Axios on Sunday that he expects a new round of talks with Iran this week, two days after announcing his rejection of the latest Iranian proposal, deeming it unacceptable despite his desire for an agreement.

 

This came after Tehran, through Qatar, presented a seven-day settlement plan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, conditional on accepting its terms. The plan includes opening the Strait of Hormuz on the sixth day and resuming final settlement negotiations on the seventh.

 

According to media reports, the plan includes the release of approximately $12 billion in frozen assets, lifting of sanctions on oil, ending the US naval blockade of Iranian ports, a cessation of hostilities in the Middle East, including Lebanon, and the resumption of nuclear negotiations.
