Chad condemns Central African attack on its territory

SANAA, May 31 (YPA) – The Chadian government said that the Central African army attacked its territory on Sunday, specifically a military center that includes 12 members in the Soro region, close to the border between the two countries.

The statement, issued on Sunday night, indicated that the Central African army attacked the center with heavy equipment, killing one soldier and wounding five others, while five soldiers were kidnapped and later executed in the town of Mbang in Central Africa.

The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Chadian government condemns the serious aggression it was subjected to on Sunday 30 May in Soro.

“This is a very serious war crime and this murderous and deliberate attack planned and carried out inside Chad, the causes of which are known only to the Central African government, cannot go unpunished,” the statement added.

The Chadian government said it held its Central African counterpart “responsible for the war crime”:

“The Central African government bears full responsibility for the consequences of this aggression, which nothing can justify… which comes at a time when the two countries must unite their efforts to confront common security challenges.”

Chad and Central Africa are linked by a land border of 1,197 km, which is the longest international land border for Central Africa and the second longest international border for Chad after its border with Sudan, which is about 1,360 km.
