Britain intends to send troops to Somalia to participate in fighting Youth movement

SANAA, May 24 (YPA) – “New Somalia” newspaper reported that Britain announced its intention to send 250 soldiers to Somalia to participate in fighting Youth movement, and that the step would take place “within the next 12 months.”

The newspaper pointed out that this matter comes “only months after the announcement of the establishment of the Special Operations Brigade by the former Special Air Force Commander, General Sir Mark Carleton Smith, who currently heads the British Army.”

The newspaper “New Somalia” quoted sources confirming that “the forces that Britain will send to Somalia will train the country’s special forces in counter-insurgency tactics to combat Al-Shabaab.”

These sources indicated that “the British forces, called (Rangers), will replace the American special forces that were training Somali forces.”
