CALIFORNIA, April 29 (YPA) – California State Police released a video footage showing officers pinning down a man on the ground for more than five minutes during his arrest, resulting in his death.
Footage of the incident shows officers putting their weight on Gonzalez, then pressing his chest after he became unconscious, CBS news reported.
The video, posted on social media, shows the conflict between Gonzalez, 26, and police in Alameda County.
Gonzalez died on April 19, a day before former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of killing George Floyd after being pinned to the ground for more than nine minutes.
Alameda police’s initial press release said officers tried to arrest Gonzalez, and a “violent brawl broke out between them and him.” Police said Gonzalez then suffered from an “emergency health condition”.
