Islah militnats move to control Ahwar district in Abyan

ABYAN, Jan. 28 (YPA) – Hadi government, alongside with Islah militants are mobilizing its forces led by “Louay al-Zamki” to take control of Ahwar district in Abyan province , southern Yemen, a local source said on Wednesday.

The source confirmed that the Islah militants equipped military force to control the area of Ahwar and to annex it to the areas under their control near the coast of the city of Shuqra.

The source pointed out that the Islah brought a large amount of weapons from Shabwah to the fronts of Shuqra and Araqoub, in preparation for confrontations with the UAE-backed  Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias.

Saudi forces have sent more than 25 military vehicles to the city of Shuqra, a day after the STC’s  Command warned of any armed provocations to reform in Abyan.

On Tuesday, the STC’s Command appointed  Mukhtar al-Nawbi, known as the “Red Wolf,” to manage the Battle of Abyan, replacing the leader Mohammed Jawas al-Hasani.

The Islah military movements in the Abyan front come after its armed men have mobilized in the past few days to besiege the Sabiha district in Lahj province, in order to take control of the Coast of Ras al-Arah, located on the Red Sea coast and near to the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Military observers said the Islah’s moves recently towards the Sabiha with the aim of tightening the noose on the “STC” after Saudi Arabia sent the militants of the “Second Brigade Giants” led by Hamdi Shukri Al-Sabihi, and deployed them in the confrontation lines in Abyan front, under the pretext of making the military component of the Riyadh Agreement work.
