UAE refuses to release women prisoners despite their sentences end

ABU DHABI, Jan. 23 (YPA) – A human rights center on Saturday revealed that the UAE regime continues to detain women prisoners of conscience, despite the end of their sentences.

“The UAE authorities continued to imprison student Maryam Al -Balushi for two months, although her sick mother is still waiting for her release,” the “We Register” human rights center said, in a brief statement on its account on Twitter.

The statement added, “Like her, five children are waiting for the release of their mother, Amina Al-Abdouli, whose sentence ended last November.”

The human rights center wondered, “When will the UAE authorities return Maryam and Amina to the arms of their loved ones?”

International human rights reports accuse the UAE regime of arresting hundreds of people for expressing opinion, and it continues to detain dozens of them despite the expiration of their sentences, in clear violation of international law, and a flagrant violation of the detainee’s right to regain his freedom after the expiration of his prison term.
