Coalition uses displaced camps as human shields in Marib

MARIB, Jan. 10 (YPA) – Tribal leaders in the Marib province have warned a imminent massacre of the internally displaced people (IDPs) in the province, where Islah Party forces backed by Saudi-led coalition use the displaced as human shields.

Sheikh Nasser Munif Al-Obaidi said on Sunday in a tweet on his Twitter account “The legitimacy (Saudi-backed government) prevents the displaced from leaving or moving from the camps to safe places, due to the approaching confrontations, and the goal is known. They want the poor as shields for the government compound.”

In turn, Sheikh Mohammed Saleh Al-Moradi denounced, on his Twitter account, the practice of Islah and said “it is a flaw that you make the IDP camps shields and fortifications. Be men and confront like men away from the camps, or allow the displaced to leave the camps.”

The Islah Party had used to use civilians as human shields for its fighters on more than one front in several provinces to serve the coalition.

On Saturday, Marib Governor of the National Salvation Government, Ali Tua’iman, called for international investigation committees be formed to probe into the coalition forces’ entrenching inside the displaced camps and preventing them from leaving to safer areas.
