Haaretz: Israel asks Washington not to sell F-35 to UAE

SANAA, Aug. 18 (YPA) -The Israeli occupation government has asked the United States not to sell F-35s to the UAE even after the normalization of relations between the two countries, Haaretz Newspaper reported.

“The Israeli government’s request comes because of concerns that there may be secret talks with the Gulf state leading to an agreement on the sale of sensitive military equipment without informing senior Israeli security officials,” the Israeli newspaper Haaretz quoted Israeli officials as saying.

According to the officials, “the Gulf states have in the past pressured Israel to remove its opposition to the deals.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to sell advanced technological equipment to the UAE as part of the normalization agreement, but he stressed that US aircraft should not be sold,” the Haaretz confirmed.

“Israel looks forward to remaining the only entity in the Middle East that owns these sophisticated US aircraft,” it added.
