EU threatens US with retaliatory measures

BRUSSELS, July 13 (YPA) – The European Union (EU) Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has warned of potential countermeasures against the United States over its imposition of new tariffs on European goods.

Von der Leyen indicated that the EU may take defensive measures if a trade agreement is not reached by August 1, following Washington’s decision to impose a 30% tariff on EU imports.

She stressed that the EU is ready for dialogue but is determined to protect its economic interests.

In response, US President Donald Trump announced that his country would respond in kind if the EU raised its tariffs on American goods.

Amid these tensions, the European official emphasized the EU’s willingness to expand its partnerships with other countries to avoid the impact of the tariffs on supply chains.
